I started playing around with Essential Oils in the mid 90's making my own cosmetics. I joined a yahoo group and met many wonderful people who shared their knowledge and sources. I took as many classes as I could find. I got certified as an Aromatherapist. I made cosmetics for myself and eventually friends. Now I find that I am mostly making Essential Oil Synergies and will have a page on this website soon with more information.
If you are just starting out with Essential Oils please educate yourself as much as possible. It is extremely important to know about dilution ratios, safety, photosensitization, irritation, allergies, blending, carrier oils, ingesting of eo's, use of eo's with children, adverse reactions and much more.
The best & ethical education you will get is from an organization that is separate from where you purchase your essential oils.
Robert Tisserand who started the Tisserand Institute is one of the best educators I have experienced. I still follow his safety information 30 years later. Check out their How to Use Essential Oils Safely page.
Atlantic Institute of Aromatherapy has an excellent Practitioner Course. Sylla Sheppard-Hanger is someone I highly recommend studying with.
Kurt Schnaubelt founded The Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy . This another great school to learn aromatherapy and get certified as a practitioner.
Where do I purchase my Essential Oils? Many different places. Check out my page of recommended suppliers of Essential Oils.
The books below are essential for learning about Essential Oils. Please purchase what you can and add to your education.
